Not Unrestrictedly!

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah

Shaykhul-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله stated:

"Do not aid/support an individual with unrestricted aid/support other than the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) . Do not aid/support a group with unrestricted aid/support except for the Companions رضي الله عنهم أجمعين. For indeed, the guidance goes with the Messenger (ﷺ) wherever he goes. And it goes with his Companions wherever they go, (but this is not the case with) other than his the companions. When they agree (upon a matter), they never agree upon a mistake. Different from the companions of a scholar from the scholars. Indeed it is possible for them to unite upon a mistake.

Rather, every statement that they say that other than them from the Ummah did not say is nothing but a mistake. For indeed the religion which Allāh sent His Messenger with is not subjected to one scholar and their companions. If the matter was such, then that individual would be equal to the Messenger of Allāh (ﷺ) and (this statement) is similar to the statement of the Rāfidah about their ‘infallible imām’."
