Reciting One Verse All Night?

Al-Haafith an-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy upon him) stated:

"It's befitting for the reciter (of the Quraan) that his affair is one of humility, contemplation and submission. This is what is required and sought after (from him when he reads the Quraan). With it the chest expands and the hearts are illuminated. A group from the Salaf had spent the night (in prayer), one of them would recite one verse the entire night or most of the night contemplating over it during the recitation (of it)." (Al-Adhkaar pg.150)
