When Allah Loves A Servant
By Shaykh ʿAbdulʿAzīz Ibn ʿAbdullah al-Rājiḥī
In the Ṣaḥīḥayn (al-Bukhārī and Muslim), it is reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Indeed, when Allah loves a servant, He calls Jibrīl and says: ‘I love so-and-so, so love him.’ Jibrīl then loves him and calls out to the inhabitants of the heavens: ‘Allah loves so-and-so, so love him.’ Thus the inhabitants of the heavens love him, and acceptance is placed for him on earth.
And when Allah dislikes a servant, He calls Jibrīl and says: ‘I dislike so-and-so, so dislike him.’ Jibrīl then dislikes him and calls out to the inhabitants of the heavens: ‘Allah dislikes so-and-so, so dislike him.’ Thus they dislike him, and hatred is placed for him on earth.”
In this ḥadīth:
Whoever remains upright upon obedience to Allah and honors His limits, Allah Most High will love him, Jibrīl (peace be upon him) will love him, and the inhabitants of the heavens will love him. Then acceptance and love are placed for him on earth. This is one of the swift rewards granted in this world before the Hereafter.
But whoever deviates from the right path and strays from the law of Allah, then Allah Most High will dislike him, and the angels will dislike him, and hatred will be placed for him on earth.
This is a hastened punishment, we ask Allah for safety and well-being.
