(Worksheet) Fasting In The Month Of Ramadhaan
One of the Pillars of Islaam is to fast the month of Ramadhaan. Ramadhaan is the ninth month on the Islaamic calendar. Fasting is obligatory on every Muslim. The month of Ramadhaan is a month that has in it many blessings. Allah says in the Qur’an,
“The month of Ramadhaan in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for mankind and clear proofs for the guidance and the criterion (between right and wrong). So whoever of you sights (the crescent on the first night of) the month (of Ramadân i.e. is present at his home), he must observe Saum (fasts) that month.” [Surahtu Baqarah: 185]
The Muslim has to fast the whole month of Ramadhaan. We begin fasting at salaatul Fajr and end it at Maghrib. The meal before we start our fast is called Sahoor and the meal when we break our fast is called Iftaar. The month of Ramadhaan has in it a very special night which is called Laylatul Qadr.
