Worksheet On Ihsān
Worksheet On Ihsān
Ihsān is one of the highest levels of faith in Islam, Striving for excellence in worship and conduct, seeking to please Allah in every action.”
It is defined as worshipping Allah as if you can see Him, and. even if you cannot see Him, Know that He sees you. This belief is in both the Qur’an and Sunnah.
In the Qur’an, Allah speaks of Ihsān in many verses. One verse is found in Surah Al-Baqarah, where Allah says:
“Indeed, Allah is with those who fear Him and those who are doers of good” (Qur’an, 2:195).
The word used for “doers of good” is Muhsineen, which refers to those who practice Ihsān. This emphasizes that Allah is with those who, not only believe and fear Him but also strive to do their best in every action, whether in worship or in their dealings with others.
The Prophet (ﷺ) said the meaning of Ihsān in the famous Hadith of Jibril. When the angel Jibril asked the Prophet,
“What is Ihsān?” The Prophet (ﷺ) responded, “It is to worship Allah as if you see Him, and if you cannot, then know that He sees you” (Sahih Bukhari and Muslim).
This Hadith highlights the importance of developing a profound awareness of Allah’s constant presence, which motivates a Muslim to strive for perfection in their actions, whether seen or unseen by others.
Ihsān also manifests in kindness and excellence towards others. The Prophet (ﷺ) said,
“Verily, Allah has prescribed excellence (Ihsān) in all things. Thus, if you kill, then kill well, and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let him spare suffering to the animal” (Sahih Muslim).
This Hadith shows that Ihsān extends to all aspects of life, even in actions like slaughtering an animal, emphasizing the importance of doing everything with excellence and compassion.
In essence, Ihsān is about striving for the highest standard of behavior in worship and in life, knowing that Allah is always watching. This profound awareness leads to greater sincerity, humility, and a constant effort to perfect one’s actions.
