(Worksheet) The Four Matters That Are Obligatory Upon Each Muslim To Know
Know, O Noble Student, may Allah have mercy upon you are grant you success in being obedient to Him, that it is incumbent upon us to have knowledge about four (extremely important) matters:
First: Knowledge, (what is intended) is knowledge about Allah The Most High, knowledge about His Messenger (ﷺ), and knowledge about the religion of Islaam with proofs and evidences from the Noble Qur’an and authentic Prophetic Sunnah.
Second: Acting in accordance to this knowledge. This is because actions are the desired fruits of knowledge.
Third: Calling and inviting others to this knowledge. Therefore, it is not only incumbent upon a Muslim to have this knowledge and act in accordance to it, except that he must also invite others to Islaam.
Fourth: Patience upon the harms received (while acquiring and) calling to this knowledge; being patient when he is afflicted by the harms of the people during the course of calling them to Allah The Most High.
The proof for this is the statement of Allah The Most High,
“By Al-'Asr (the time). Verily! Man is in loss, Except those who believe (in Islamic Monotheism) and do righteous good deeds, and recommend one another to the truth (i.e. order one another to perform all kinds of good deeds (Al-Ma'ruf) which Allah has ordained, and abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds (Al-Munkar) which Allah has forbidden), and recommend one another to patience (for the sufferings, harms, and injuries which one may encounter in Allah's Cause during preaching His religion of Islamic Monotheism or Jihad, etc.).” [Asr: 1-3]
(In this Surah) Allah The Glorified and Exalted swears by Al ‘Asr, which here means time, that verily mankind is in a state of lost, except those who believe. (When describing the believers) Allah The Most High started with knowledge, which is proper belief (Al Imaan)
